All of your favorite Doo Wop legends back together again on this exciting once-in-a-lifetime cruise!
The Entertainment
There hasn’t been an Oldies Doo Wop lineup this dazzling in over 50 years, featuring: The Harptones, The Orioles, Baby Washington, The Swallows, The Solitaires and Big Jay McNeely.
Each live performance will consist of at least a full 12 song set, and some are performing even more! Every song performed at this event is the original, by the artists who recorded them. You’ll hear no sub-par covers here! In addition, Matt the Cat, our Master of Ceremonies and renowned oldies radio host, is personally involved in the song selections, so you can bet your sweet bippy you’ll hear nothing but that glorious Doo Wop!
Planned Activities
There are many other activities planned during the cruise, including a Super Sock Hop, several autograph sessions, hosted cocktail parties, a jam session and a trivia contest. If there is interest we may even have a Doo Wop talent show! There will also be drawings for exciting prizes like spa treatments, dining with the talented performers, shore excursions, specialty dining vouchers, gift shop certificates, photos and other related ship services. This is only a partial list, as there many other exciting activities planned.
Dancing
Of course with all this stellar musical entertainment, there will be plenty of dancing! The Norwegian Gem is a new ship and has all the state of the art sound equipment and even a dedicated & permanent dance floor. This is not the case with some older ships, many of which feature only portable ones.
Dancing will be encouraged during concert performances if the stage is elevated enough without interfering with the other passengers’ views of the show. This is a large concert showroom and holds 375 people, but we are keeping our group size well below capacity, so there will be plenty of space behind the seated passengers for dancing during the performances.
There will also be lots of dancing before each concert performance in our showroom to music from our live band. Hal Keshner and his seven-piece band have been together for many years and are one of New York’s premier musical acts.
